Wallis is a premium fashion brand on the high street and online for women, Plus size women and Petites. Wallis are known for their occasion wear, tailoring, coats and basics such as simple jersey tops and trousers. Wallis have a glamorous new Plus size range launching in October and are one of the market leaders in Petites.

Wallis is part of the Arcadia Group, which also owns such famous names like Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Outfit, Topman and Topshop. With over 2000 outlets across the country it makes the Arcadia Group the UK's largest clothing retailer. Wallis was aquired by the Arcadia group in the 1990's.

The History of Wallis

1923 - The first store in Islington, London, founded by Raphael Nat. Wallis

1935 - Wallis & Co. was registered as a Limited Company

1948 - Wallis & Co. now have 25 branches

1950 - The current format of Wallis begins to emerge, creating the in-house design team

1960 - Wallis develops into a major High Street fashion store across the UK

1974 - Wallis opens its first concession in Germany

1977 - The company changes it's name to Wallis Fashion Group Ltd

1980 - The Wallis fashion Group Ltd becomes part of the Sears Group Plc

1993 - Launch of the first Wallis Petite Collection

1995 - Wallis rolls out a new concept refit programme

1996 - Wallis launches it's own shoe range

1997 - Wallis opens franchise outlets in Saudi Arabia and is represented in South Africa by licensing agreement

1999 - Arcadia Group Plc take over Sears Group Plc. This included Wallis, Warehouse, Miss Selfridge, Richards and Outfit

2001 - The Arcadia portfolio was restructured and now includes Miss Selfridge, Evans, Dorothy Perkins, TOPSHOP, TOPMAN, Burtons and Outfit in addition to Wallis

2002 - January: Wallis rolls out a new shop fit design stores nationwide, and in November: Philip Green buys Arcadia Group Plc which becomes Arcadia Group Ltd.

2003 - Following the success of the Linda Evangelista campaign, Helena Christensen is appointed to launch the new Spring/Summer range.
