Peacocks is currently one of Britain's hottest value fashion chain, and the 1st value fashion retailer that has launched a transactional website in the UK. Day in day out, between 30 and 50 new womenswear lines arrive in store every week.

Peacocks is part of The Peacock Group who also own Bonmarche. The company was taken private in 2006. Since 1884, when the first Peacock store opened in Warrington, the chain has been aggressively adding new stores. In 2007, a 15 million pound expansion saw another 30 stores open and today it has over 460 nationwide stores, it also has 46 franchises overseas in Turkey, the Middle East, Ukraine and Russia.
Peacocks was awarded Cancer Research's Flame of Hope Award as business supporter of the year 2006 to recognise the contribution Peacocks has made to the charity both through in-store promotions, colleague fund raising and customer support. Peacocks currently employs over 5000 people.
