PLANNED OR PROPOSED JOHN LEWIS STORES
John Lewis has a number of new shops in the pipeline. They plan to open new department stores in Croydon, Stratford, Leeds, Oxford, Portsmouth, Dublin and Preston.
August 2010 - John Lewis Croydon - A new format John Lewis opens at Purley Way, Croydon
2011 - John Lewis ad Waitrose Stratford - A new 240,000 sq ft John Lewis and Waitrose will be an anchor store for Stratford's City retail project, opening adjacent to the Olympic Park in East London. The Westfield Stratford City will be a massive retail and leisure destination, which will be the largest urban shopping centre in Europe, just in time for the 2012 olympics.
Sprucefield - We are committed to opening our first shop in Sprucefield, Northern Ireland at the earliest opportunity (subject to planning).
Leeds - The Leeds shop will be the principal anchor for the proposed Eastgate and Harewood Quarter development in Leeds City Centre.John Lewis hopes to open a new 260,000 sq ft full range department store in Leeds as the anchor shop for the proposed Eastgate & Harewood Quarter development in the city centre.
Dublin (2013) - John lewis plans to open its first new shop outside the United Kingdom in the Republic of Ireland. Trading over five levels, the 250,000 sq ft department store will anchor the proposed Dublin Central development on O’Connell Street and is expected to open in 2013.
Oxford - A new John Lewis department store will be the principal anchor store for the redeveloped Westgate Shopping Centre in Oxford City Centre.
Portsmouth - A new John Lewis shop will anchor the Northern Quarter Redevelopment, on the former Tricorn site. (Press release 1/2010) Working with Portsmouth City Council and Centros on development options for the Northern Quarter. A new planning application will be required and a revised Compulsory Purchase Order. The scheme remains a priority for the City Council but due to the complex nature of the development a planning application is unlikely until 2011.
Preston - John Lewis has announced plans with Grosvenor to anchor the Tithebarn project in Preston, with a new full line department store.
