Going Places is part of the MyTravel PLC Group. In May 2002, the Group announces its intention to launch a new interactive digital television channel to be called 'Going Places TV'. In February 2003, the Group's digital TV channel 'Going Places TV' was launched on channel 669.
The MyTravel Group is a multi-national travel group employing over 14,000 people worldwide. Last year the group took close to 6 million people on holiday.
Between November 2004 and 2005, 130 Going places shops have been closed - This is not because of poor trading, the MyTravel group has actually increased turnover and profits in 2006, it was mainly due to the percentage of online sales which has grown hugely over recent years.
Made up of the famous Going Places brand plus Travelworld and Holidayworld, the MyTravel retail team plays a key role in one of the largest leisure and travel organisations in the world. In fact, the MyTravel group now have over 500 stores - on the high street, in out-of-town retail parks and more recently, in some of the larger Sainsbury's Superstores.
